Difference - Inktense Vs Watercolor Pencils
Are you undecided between Derwent watercolor pencils and Derwent Inktense? At first glance, they all appear to be the same, so can we get any of these? Surely no. These are two different color series. If you wish to create a watercolor wonder, use Derwent watercolor pencils and in case you want to make bold splash use Derwent Inktense. Although, both color pencils are water-soluble, their effects after being dried are different. In this post, I'll go over the distinctions between the Derwent Watercolor series and the Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils. Continue to read!

Derwent Watercolor Pencils
It is the premier line of watercolor pencils. The Watercolor series comes in 72 hues and is appropriate for all forms of artistic work. Because the colors are not permanent, they may be re-wetted and painted over after they have dried.

The  pencil barrel of Derwent watercolor is hexagonal and navy blue. It is 6.9mm is diameter, and the lead diameter is 3.4mm. The shape of the body allows you to comfortably hold the pencil when working on precise fine details. Derwent Watercolor pencils are often used in architectural and botanical painting. The texture of the lead of Watercolor pencils is softer compared to the lead of an Inktense pencil.

For landscapes, watercolor includes a wide spectrum of greens and browns. Its weakness is that some of the colors do not work well on damp surfaces, creating clumps; this may be remedied by applying the color first and then adding water.

Derwent Inktense
The Inktense line, one of Derwent's most intriguing, should not be confused with the Watercolor. A distinctive feature of Inktense pencils is that when water is added to the work, the colors become intense and bright, very similar to colored ink (hence the name of the collection is "Inktense").

Derwent Inktense pencils have a high tonal vibrancy and when dried, these become bright ink-like coating that is permanent, so layers applied on top do not alter the prior layers. This enables for painting over and is suitable for cotton and silk materials.

The body of the Derwent Inktense pencils is round, with a diameter of 8mm, the lead diameter is 4mm.The texture of the lead of Inktense pencils is harder and closer in performance to wax-based pencils.
